New rules for the domain verification
The rules for the domain verification have been changed. Learn about their new, stricter form, which enforced the CAB forum.
Shorter domain verification validity
For OV and EV certificates the validity of the verified domain has been reduced to 397 days, which is certificate’s maximum period of validity, too. After the expiration of this period the domains will have to be verified again. For DV certificates, there still applies the rule to verify the domain for each order separately – repetitively.
FILE method verification limited
The change in the verification using the FILE method (file on FTP) applies to subdomains and Wildcard certificates. From 15 November 2021 it will no longer be possible to verify the subdomains using the parent domain, you will need to verify the subdomain exactly as it appears on the certificate.
For Wildcard certificates it will not be possible to use the FILE method in any way.
