Code Signing certificates
Thawte Code Signing is a specialized certificate which allows developers to add a digital signature to an application distributed on the Internet. If any change in code is detected, the signature becomes untrusted and the user is warned before using the app. By signing an application with a Code Signing certificate, users will be assured that the software they have obtained is definitely from the manufacturer.
Signing an application with a Code Signing certificate guarantees the credibility of the application. Any code change is detected due to the application's signature and the application will be marked as untrustworthy. By signing an application with a Code Signing certificate, users will be assured that the software they have acquired is clearly from the company that created it and that they can trust the software.
When the signed application is launched, the user can see the name of the publisher and click on the name to see the Code Signing certificate’s details. Any change to the application code will invalidate the signature. The digital signature allows the user to authenticate the publisher and be protected from scammers who could change the application code.
